WHAT YOU SHOULD ACTUALLY KNOW
Running the tank to empty costs more than the fuel you saved
The in-tank fuel pump is cooled and lubricated by the fuel around it. Running consistently near empty makes that pump run hot, and sediment that settles at the bottom of the tank gets pulled straight into the filter. Nobody notices the damage the first time. People notice it around the fifth.
Why your car may not start right after you add fuel
When a tank runs completely dry, the fuel line fills with air. Adding two gallons does not instantly push that air out. Turn the key to the ON position for about five seconds without cranking, then off, then repeat two or three times so the pump can prime the line. On diesels this matters even more. Grinding the starter over and over just kills the battery and adds a second problem to your day.
Range readouts are estimates, not measurements
That 'miles to empty' number is calculated from your recent average consumption. Hit a hill, a headwind, cold air or stop-and-go traffic and the real number drops faster than the display does. Treat 30 miles of indicated range as about 15 real ones.
Never carry fuel in a non-approved container
Milk jugs, water bottles and cut-down containers build static and melt. We carry approved, sealed fuel containers for a reason. If you keep a spare can in the vehicle, use a proper vented can and never store it in a hot trunk full.

- Every price on this site is a starting price, and every starting price is real. We publish it so you can decide before you dial.
- Normal pricing runs 7:00 AM – 6:59 PM. Emergency after-hours pricing runs 7:00 PM – 6:59 AM, because suppliers are closed, operating costs are higher and roadside work at night is more hazardous.
- Pricing is based on travel distance from our Norwood dispatch office, the vehicle, the time of day and what the job actually takes.
- You get your exact number on the phone before a technician is dispatched. If we find something else on scene, we stop and re-quote — you decide before anything else happens.
