STUDENT ROADSIDE CARE PROGRAM
A dead battery in a campus lot at 11 PM shouldn't frighten a student or cost them a week of grocery money. So we run a standing program for high school and college students: honest roadside help at a price built for a student budget, plus the practical knowledge to handle it better next time. Valid current student ID, shown to the tech on scene. No membership, no signup, no app.

CALL 911 FIRST WHEN THERE IS IMMEDIATE DANGER
If the student is involved in a collision, facing a medical emergency, threatened by another person, trapped in an unsafe position or stopped where there is an immediate danger to life or safety, call 911 first. Roadside assistance is not a replacement for police, fire or emergency medical services.
- Do not stand between the disabled vehicle and moving traffic.
- On an interstate, follow emergency-dispatch instructions.
- Remain behind a safety barrier or properly restrained inside the vehicle when appropriate.
- Do not attempt a tire change or jump start in an unsafe location.
There is no single rule that fits every breakdown. Whether staying in the vehicle or getting out is safer depends on where the car is sitting — when there is immediate danger, follow the instructions emergency dispatch gives you.
STUDENT PRICING
The price follows the disabled vehicle — not the student's school, age or home address. You get the exact number before we dispatch.
Daytime (7:00 AM – 6:59 PM) · Prepaid when scheduling
$49
One qualifying standard roadside service, paid in full when you schedule.
Daytime (7:00 AM – 6:59 PM) · Pay upon arrival
$69
The $69 arrival price already includes the standard $20 pay-on-arrival surcharge — it is never added twice.
After hours (7:00 PM – 6:59 AM)No student discount after 7 PM. Students pay the same standard after-hours rates as every other customer, and all after-hours service requires full prepayment before dispatch.
Where the car sits decides the price — not your school and not where you live. For locations significantly outside our normal service area, additional long-distance travel charges may apply. Any additional charge is disclosed and approved before dispatch.

WHY AL CREATED THE STUDENT ROADSIDE CARE PROGRAM
Al owns Redneck Roadside Tech. He started this program as a father and a grandfather, not as a marketing idea.
He taught his own kids how to understand their vehicles and handle the basics — how to change a tire, how to find the safe jack points, how to check tire pressure, how to connect jumper cables in the right order without hurting themselves or the car. That was normal in his house. He also knows it is not normal in every house.
Plenty of young drivers have nobody to teach them. No parent with the time, no grandparent nearby, no experienced person to call at 11 PM. A student should not end up frightened, stranded or financially punished simply because nobody ever showed them what to do when a battery dies, a tire goes flat, the keys get locked inside or the tank runs dry.
So the program does two things at once: it gives students access to honest, affordable roadside assistance, and it gives them knowledge that may serve them for the rest of their lives. We do not want to roll up, do the work without a word and disappear. When the location is safe and time and roadside conditions allow, the technician explains what happened, what is being done about it and what the student should know for next time.
“We want every student to leave the roadside safer, less frightened and more knowledgeable than they were when we arrived.”
ROADSIDE HELP THAT ALSO TEACHES
When conditions are safe and the service call permits, ask the technician. Depending on the situation, they may walk you through:
- Where the vehicle's safe jack points are located
- How a usable spare tire is installed
- Why correct lug-nut tightening matters
- How to check the pressure of regular tires and spare tires
- Why spare tires lose pressure while sitting unused
- Correct positive and negative jump-start polarity
- Basic jump-start safety
- Warning signs that a battery may be failing
- What to do while waiting for help
- When roadside assistance is appropriate
- When a tow truck is required
- When the student should call 911 first
This practical explanation is available on request and only when conditions safely allow. It is not certified automotive training, formal driver education, or a guaranteed roadside class. On an interstate shoulder, a dangerous roadway, a restricted area or any other unsafe location, the technician will prioritize immediate safety and completing the service.
BUILT FOR STUDENTS. PEACE OF MIND FOR PARENTS.
“When your student calls from a parking lot, roadside or campus garage, you should know who is responding, what it will cost and what happens next.”

STUDENT PROGRAM — FAQ
The questions students, parents and schools actually call and ask.
Who qualifies for the Student Roadside Care Program?
Any high school or college student with a valid current student ID — age does not matter, and you do not have to live in Cincinnati. Show the ID to the technician when we arrive. That is the whole verification process.
What services are covered by the student price?
One qualifying standard roadside service: a standard jump start, a standard vehicle lockout, installation of the vehicle's usable spare tire, or an approved fuel delivery package. Towing, winching, collision recovery, tire replacement, mounting or balancing, mechanical repairs, wheel-lock removal, seized or damaged lug nuts and complicated lockouts are not part of the student price.
How much is the Student Roadside Care Program?
During daytime hours, 7:00 AM to 6:59 PM, one qualifying standard roadside service is $49 when you prepay while scheduling, or $69 when you pay the technician on arrival. The $69 already includes the standard $20 pay-on-arrival surcharge — it is never added twice.
Is the student rate available after hours?
No. Between 7:00 PM and 6:59 AM there is no student discount. Students pay the same standard after-hours rates as every other customer, and all after-hours service requires full prepayment before dispatch.
Does the student need to live in Cincinnati?
No. Eligibility is based on a valid current student ID — not which school the student attends, where the student lives, their age or their home address.
Can a parent call and pay for the service?
Yes. A parent or guardian may call on behalf of the student and may provide payment. The student still needs to present a valid current student ID when the technician arrives.
Is an app required to use the program?
No. No app is currently required. A free GPS-enabled roadside app is in development, but it is not released and it will not be required. Students call 513-623-0602 — no membership, no signup, no advance registration.
What should a student do in an immediate emergency?
Call 911 first. If there is a collision, a medical emergency, a threat from another person, someone trapped in an unsafe position, or any immediate danger to life or safety, emergency services come first. Roadside assistance is not a replacement for police, fire or emergency medical services.
Can schools and student organizations share the program?
Yes. High schools, colleges, student-affairs and campus-safety departments, counselors, parent organizations and student organizations may share the program with students and families. No contract, no enrollment, no financial obligation. Sharing it should not be presented as an official school endorsement unless the school has specifically authorized that wording.
Can my parents call in for me?
Yes, and plenty do. We take the details and the payment from them and still walk you through what we are doing when we get there. Bring the student ID.
